Wellington, FL (February 19, 2016) – Half way through the fast-paced winter show season in Wellington, Florida, Diamante Farms shows no sign of taking a well-deserved rest. The world-class dressage facility Diamante Farms continues to support dressage, horsemanship, and the Wellington community with unstoppable dedication. Whether it’s saluting Olympic athletes, sponsoring the CDI 5* at the Adequan Global Dressage Festival, volunteering for the Vinceremos Therapeutic Riding Center, or supporting dressage education, Diamante Farms’ co-owners— the mother/daughter team Terri and Devon Kane— are constantly the first to step forward.
After a busy start to the month of February, Diamante Farms sponsored the second annual Salute to the Olympians on February 12 before the FEI 5* Grand Prix Freestyle at the Adequan Global Dressage Festival showgrounds in Wellington. The event honored a myriad of Olympic athletes from 10 countries, including the USA, Sweden, Spain, Peru, Mexico, Great Britain, Germany, Denmark, Columbia, and Canada. Diamante Farms joined past Olympians and future potential Olympian hopefuls (in the form of the young talented riders from Dressage4Kids, a nonprofit organization run by U.S. Olympian Lendon Gray) in the International Arena. After presenting each Olympian with a beautiful bouquet of flowers before a cheering audience, it was on to the rest of the show series’ CDI 5* week, of which Diamante Farms was title sponsor.
The Kanes have been instrumental in supporting the sport of dressage in South Florida, and were a founding sponsor of the Adequan Global Dressage Festival. They are also the title sponsor of the Under 25 classes during the 12-week show series, which were won during the 5* by Canada’s Megan Lane on San D’Or and USA’s Ayden Uhlir on Sjapoer.
Not only have the Kanes been busy at the showgrounds, but they are also actively supporting the Vinceremos Therapeutic Riding Center. On February 10, Devon Kane was a “celebrity judge” for the final round of the preliminaries in the crowd-pleasing Vinceremos “Buck Off,” a mechanical bull riding competition benefitting the center. The winning teams will compete in the championship at the 29th Annual Vinceremos Dinner and Benefit Auction tonight, February 19, at the Palm Beach International Polo Club. Devon Kane, as the Young Professionals Chair of the annual event, will play a big part in putting on the Dinner and Benefit Auction.
“I believe in Vinceremos,” explained Devon. “I am an able-bodied and minded person, and most importantly, I have a very healthy son. I believe in the power of equine therapy for mental and physical disabilities, and I recognize that it could be my child taking lessons there.”
Devon wasn’t the only one to play ‘judge’ this past weekend— Terri Kane also served as a judge, at the Palm Beach County Special Olympics Equestrian Games on February 13 at the Van Kampen Arena on the Adequan Global Dressage Festival showgrounds. The Area Games for the Special Olympics will be held in the same venue on March 26.
“The Special Olympics program is near and dear to me because I had a brother with Down syndrome, and he participated in Special Olympics for many years,” Terri said. “I love to give my time to this program in his honor. While judging, I even proudly wore his medals he won in track and field.”
Even while always out and about supporting local charities and the sport of dressage, the Kanes keep the Diamante Farms facility itself bustling. Diamante Farms hosted a USEF Young Horse Training session at their beautiful farm on February 17-18. The program focused its efforts on building the depth of upcoming dressage talent combinations with sessions led by Christine Traurig, USEF Dressage Young Horse Coach.
As the winter show season continues, Diamante Farms will continue to be in the forefront of Wellington’s equestrian community. Diamante Farms offers top-quality training, clinics, boarding, and sales in dressage. The lush estate offers more than 20 courtyard-style stalls, grass paddocks, and large covered and outdoor arenas with world-class footing.
