Wellington, FL – As South Florida’s 2016 dressage show season approaches, international Grand Prix competitor Devon Kane has chosen to devote her time to focusing on her up-and-coming horses in addition to her long time partner Destiny, who she trained through the levels herself and then rode to the title of 2014 U.S. Dressage Finals Grand Prix Champion. Kane and Destiny, a 12-year-old Danish Warmblood gelding (Diamond Hit x Midt-West Regina, Rubenstein), recently qualified for the 2015 Grand Prix National Championships at the U.S. Dressage Festival of Champions presented by the Dutta Corp.

Although Kane is extremely honored to have qualified, she has decided to cheer on her fellow dressage riders from the sidelines while preparing her young horses to shine in the limelight this show season. “Achieving my goal of qualifying for the Dutta Corp. Festival of Champions this year is a huge success for me, especially considering the expert colleagues I competed with throughout the year. I am extremely proud to join the riders on this prestigious list,” said Kane. The competition will be held at the Adequan Global Dressage Festival Show Grounds on December 8-12 in Wellington, Florida.

Kane, also based in Wellington, Florida as the head trainer of her own Diamante Farms, has received countless ribbons on Destiny over the years, and is now ready to start stealing the show with her newer prospects. At the 2016 Adequan Global Dressage Festival, Kane will be seen on Destiny as well as on Sir Galanto, her 10-year-old Hanoverian stallion (by Stedinger out of a De Niro mare), and Winchester, her seven-year-old Oldenburg gelding (by World of Dreams out of a Fürst Heinrich mare).

Reaching the point of qualifying for the Grand Prix National Championship at the U.S. Dressage Festival of Champions with Destiny has been quite a journey for Kane. She and the Danish-bred gelding proudly represented Team USA in July at the Nations Cup CDIO5* in Falsterbo, Sweden, and finished in the ribbons in the Grand Prix Special there. They spent the summer training at the Flyenhof stables inEtteln, Germany, with Olympic Gold Medalist Hubertus Schmidt. Kane was selected to compete in the Nations Cup at the International Dressage and Jumping Festival in Verden, Germany, and in Darmstadt-Kranichstein, Germany, at the Kranichsteiner Sommerfestival in August.

Devon Kane and Destiny are a well-known dynamic duo in the dressage community. Kane has achieved remarkable success with the people-loving gelding, and credits him with helping her

hone her skills as a trainer, coach, and competitor. Destiny came to Kane’s Diamante Farms as a hot-tempered four-year-old, inspiring his nickname “Dragon.” Kane and the gelding rose through the ranks and she has transformed the horse into a Grand Prix superstar. “I love his personality,” she said. “He’s just the sweetest. He can be a little bit of a challenge sometimes, but mostly he’s just a love. He always wants to cuddle and come hang out.”

“‘Desi’ and I have worked hard to achieve our goals this year— qualifying in the top 12 in the country, finishing top six in a Grand Prix CDI, and representing the USA in Europe on a Nation’s Cup CDIO team,” said Kane. “Destiny is currently still in Germany, and is being ridden in full Grand Prix training with Hubertus Schmidt. Destiny spent his entire life with me in the saddle, so I am very excited for the opportunity to have Hubertus work with Destiny individually. I’m thankful to be able to take advantage of Hubertus’ phenomenal riding and have Desi spend personal time with such an amazing trainer. Destiny will be coming home this winter to compete with me in the 2016 Grand Prix circuit at the Adequan Global Dressage Festival. I am looking forward to more accomplishments in the CDI arena next year with Destiny and with my new Sir Galanto and baby Winchester!”

After her impressive successes with Destiny, the future looks promising for Kane and her next show ring stars like Sir Galanto and Winchester.
